• ALTHOUGH local residents making environmental representations against an application for a new licence by P K Industrial Leasing Ltd, of Halifax, had failed to attend a public inquiry. North Eastern LA Frederick Whalley imposed conditions when deciding to grant a licence.
The company had applied for a restricted licence for one vehicle in possession, with one to be acquired, to enable it to transport materials for the repair and maintenance of an industrial estate that it owned.
The LA said that he was in some difficulty, as the four neighbouring residents who had made representations had been unable to attend, He had to consider their representations, but he was unable to attach as much weight to them as he would have done if the residents had appeared to be questioned.
