• Merthyr Tydfil Transport has been sold by its local borough council to three coach operators. Cyril Evans Coaches of Sengenhydd, Parfitt's Motor Services of Rhymney Bridge and Evans of New Tredegar have teamed up to take over the 55-strong fleet.
National Welsh had put MIT under pressure of closure by hiring most of its drivers, but MTT weathered the storm by recruiting staff and borrowing from other operators.
