• An assault on a GoAhead Northern bus driver has prompted Transport & General Workers Union regional secretary Joe Mills to call for stiffer sentences for passengers who attack bus crews.
Go-Ahead's David Tone was punched in the face while driving, lost control of the bus and crashed into parked cars in Gateshead. "These yobs are trying the patience of our bus drivers and they have got to be stopped.
"I do not think the courts are tough enough," says Mills.
