• TIP Trailer Rental is raising 240 million to pay for Continental expansion plans over the coming year.
The company, which is currently the second largest in Europe, plans to boost its trailer fleet from 17,000 to 20,000 and to boost its network to around 75 branches.
Finance director Joseph Los says there are no plans to acquire any other companies in Europe at present: extra money would have to be raised for any further acquisitions.
Los says the money, being raised by a multiple option financing facility, will help finance "phenomenal" growth in France and strong growth in Germany and Scandinavia. TIP is now established in Spain.
