Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

-11115 YEAR'S fuel economy trials organised jointly by the Institute of Road Transport Engineers and the Brewery Transport Advisory Committee will be held at the Motor Industry Research Association's Nuneaton proving ground on September 14 and 15.

There are three gross weight categories — 7.5, 16.25 and 38 tonnes — and three competitor classes — manufacturer entered, operator entered and unrestricted.

The entry fee is E60 per vehicle, which includes fuel, light refreshments and a copy of the IRTE test procedure.

A manufacturer-entered vehicle must he one that is currently available (on the

current price list). Any optional equipment fitted to the trial vehicle must also be readily available and declared on the entry form. The driver at the trials must he the manufacturer's employee.

An operator-entered vehicle must be one that has been in use in the operator's fleet before the trial. Again, optional equipment will be allowed if it is readily available. The trial vehicle must be driven by an employee of the operator.

The only conditions for vehicles in the unrestricted class is that they must comply with Construction and Use regulations and they can only use the fuel supplied at Mira. The vehicle may be driven by any qualified driver.

As usual, the Peter Hendy Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the vehicle which achieves the highest "payload earning factor" on the day, which is calculated by multiplying fuel consumption by payload and by average speed. The closing date for entries is July 30.
