A method of lining tank interiors to prevent damage from toxic cargoes to the steel walls has been devised by Holyhead engineering. A pvc sheet, which is cut to size and softened by preheating, is applied to the internal surfaces of the tank which have previously been gritblasted and painted with primer.
All seams are covered with a special sealing strip while other protuberances require special tailoring of the lining to eliminate the risk of toxic liquid contacting the steel tank shell.
