REQUIR IN G further information before granting in full the application of Trent Motor Traction Co., Ltd., the East Midland Licensing Authority recently permitted variations on ordinary single and workmen's return fares. As a result, tickets between Id. and 21d. will cost id. more, the minimum ordinary return becomes 6d. and the minimum workmen's return 44. The maximum addition applicable to single fares is 5d.

Cost per mile at the new rates is I.16d. for single tickets, compared with Id. as at present, 0.89d. per mile for 'returns and 0.64d. for workmen's tickets, which now cost 0.55d. per mile. It was stated at the hearing that 44 per cent. of the Id. fares would be retaincd in the new schedules.
