Big Lorry Blog discovers a truck with 'wind issues' in South America

Dear BLB, here's a photograph of a Chileanregistered Century Class Freightliner and empty reefer that literally got blown off the road in Patagonia this week. It was returning through Argentina from the deep south of Chile. Winds were gusting at more than 100 km/hr at the time and this spot is notorious for the problem.

A similar Freightliner and reefer met the same fate nearby about two years ago. The good news is that the driver emerged unscathed and saved by his seatbelt. One might ask ["tongue in cheek." says BLB], is Freightliner going too far with its very low tare weights!?

The photos are from local newspapers: Dario El Oeste and El Chubut. says our Latin correspondent Simon. Well it sounds more to BLB like a gentle reminder of the power of nature — and how even a truck can't resist it.
