that raising the retirement age for HGV drivers is generally a bad idea. "Some will be OK. but a certain percentage will not be," he warns. "As we get older our reactions slow and we don't see things as quickly as we did when we were younger.
"Trucks are getting bigger and heavier and to have anyone over 65 driving them is silly. I am over 50 now and my reactions are not as fast as they were 20 years ago.
"I think I've got a few years left in the job and I don't want to be working beyond the current retirement age. I want to be able to sit back and enjoy my later years."
