VAN FAN PETER Lee now owns more than 22,000 model vans since he began collecting the toys 40 years ago.The 60-yearold builder houses his collection in his purpose-built attic, and one model — a limited edition 1976 van made to celebrate the one millionth Transit — is now worth thousands of pounds.
Lee's collection began when he worked for Ford in the early 1970s in Spain. While there, he lived in a Transit van on the beach and friends started to put the odd toy van on his dashboard, After about 18 months, Lee says he could hardly see out of the windscreen for toy vans. Along with his 22. 1J1I r vans. Lee owns seven real Transit van the world's oldest Transit.
