Grocontinental profit rockets up a remarkable 65.8%
GROCONTINENTAL HAS reported a 65.8% rise in pre-tax prof it for the year ended 31 October 2009, from E1 .3m to £2.2m.
The Whitchurch, Shropsltre-based f 'it-1m also increased its turnover 7.7%, from £21.3m to £22.9m, during the 12 months. Joint MD Linda Grocott attributes the strong set of results to "better storage and vehicle utilisation".
"We have increased our turnover and attracted new customers by offering specialised, highcapacity warehousing facilities and a unique service package. Our aim has been to attract ail-year round customers and remove seasonal fluctuations," explains Grccott.
Last year Grocontinental invested £3m in the construction of a 80,000ft2 refrigerated warehouse and a further E3m on upgrading its fleet of DAFs and MANs (CM, 22 Oct 2009).
The continuous investment in facilities and equipment is a positive strategy, increasing our storage capacity for future years and providing a more efficient fleet of vehicles, Ongoing development and training have also had a positive effect on efficiencies," adds Grocott.
