Laser Transport is drawing up a code of practice for its drivers to avoid the risk of stowaways. Tips include: • Vary your route if you frequently make the same journey.
• Avoid talking about your route or planned stops over the radio.
• Avoid routine stops, especially within 60 miles of the Channel ports.
• During rest periods try to block access to the rear of your trailer by parking against a wall.
• Check the integrity of the seal, padlock, T1R cord and the exterior of the vehicle after any stop, • Always try to park the vehicle within sight if you leave it unattended.
• Report any suspicions of unauthorised vehicle entry at your port of departure.
