Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I AM engaged in completely overhauling a 1931 Sentinel steam tractor unit and hope that some of your readers will help with further information.

The vehicle concerned was built in March, 1931 as a DG6 tipper on solid rubber tyres, with works number 8413 and registration UY 9878 and used at a gas works in Oldbury, Worcs. About 1934 it was rebuilt to its present form at the Liverpool Sentinel service depot for J. A. Webster, haulage contractors, of Liverpool, who appear to be defunct now. The vehicle was run by Webster until 1947 or so when it was sold to a friend of mine. Mr. E. N. Shone, then of Bury. Lancs.

If anyone who had dealings with this vehicle has any information regarding its work and so on, or photographs, I would be interested to hear from them.

Finally, does anyone know of any genuine Sentinel-built fourwheel trailer in existence with cable brakes and on 40 x 8 pneumatic tyres?

R. NIXON, 24 Georges Wood Road, Brookmans Park, Hatfield, H erts. Editor's note: Please write direct to Mr. Nixon in connection with this letter.
