IN his annual report, Mr. G. E. Liardet, chairman of Simms Motor and Electronics Corp. Ltd., made the following remarks: "I said in my report on the 1964 accounts that the Simms Minimec pump was proving particularly suitable for the new generation of V-type diesel engines which was likely to appear within the next few years. It is therefore satisfactory to be able to report that we have just recently received our first large contract for eight-cylinder pumps from a prominent engine manufacturer for delivery in 1967!'
It is fairly obvious, writes the technical editor, that Mr. Liardet was referring to the Perkins V8.510. although Perkins themselves would not confirm this, a spokesman for the company saying that a decision had not yet been made to change from the CAV DPA distributor-type pump at present used on the V8,
