CHILMOUNT TRANSPORT'S third appearnce at a public inquiry in three years has led to its 0icence authorisation being cut from 12 vehicles and ight trailers to eight vehicles and four trailers for four eeks. Scottish Traffic Commissioner Joan Aitken aid that sole director William Nimmo had previously ppeared at public inquiries in June 2000 and Februry 2002 when maintenance was also the issue.

Vehicle examiner William Allan told the inquiry hat between February and April 2003 three irrunedite prohibitions, two of endorsed 'S' for a significant aintenance failure, and four delayed prohibitions ad been issued, all but one to trailers. She took into account that in tipper work some defects could arise during a day's work.

It was heartening to learn that Nimmo had taken steps to improve the maintenance systems: that was why she did not have to revoke the licence.
