FIRED BY the success of a "Trucking Festival" held this autumn, two specialist road transport publications in Sweden — Leath:lien and Trailer — have announced their joint sponsorship for what is said to be the first large commercial vehicle show.
It will be held in conjunction with next year's annual congress of the Swedish Road Haulage Association at JemkOping, between Gothenburg and Stockholm, from May 24 to 29, 1983 and will include vehicles, trailers, bodywork and equipment. There will also be driving competitions and technical seminars.
A few days later TIR will stage an international "Truck Spectacle" at Lucerne. In its fiveday run, from June 1 to 5, it will provide an indoor exhibition of over 60 historic vehicles from all parts of Europe. There will also be a section devoted to prototypes, concept vehicles and design studies, supported by a number of continental cv manufacturers.
On Saturday, June 4, a rally of "Supertrucks" promises to be a highlight of the event.
Anyone interested in taking part — by exhibiting a pre-1950 vehicle, by entering the Supertruck rally or by putting up an old vehicle or parts for sale — may obtain full details from the organisers, TIR, Langmattweg 29, 4123Allschwil, Switzerland.
