Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ARANGE of forward-control dumpers has been introduced by Scammell Lorries, Ltd. The vehicles are nominally rated for 6-cu.-yd. bodies, but can be operated at up to 20 tons gross vehicle weight with suitable tyres.

The new dumpers have 4 x 2 chassis, and power is supplied by Leyland 0.680 oil engines, rated to develop 160 b.h.p. The standard gearbox is a Scammell sixspeed unit, driving to a Scammell heavy duty double reduction rear axle. Hydraulic clutch actuation is incorporated, and a hydraulic servo is applied to the steering also. The standard dumper has single rear tyres.

Air-pressure braking is specified, and semi-elliptic springs are used at both axles. The chassis frame side-members are of 1 section, with a maximum depth of 12 in., and 5-in. flanges. Electrical equipment is 24 v., and an all-steel halfcab is provided. Forward vision is supplemented by a glazed panel beneath the main windscreen.

Orders for these models have already been received from operators in Africa and Britain.
