A PARTNER in a haulage concern,

who had 10 previous convictions for criminal offences, pleaded guilty to possessing two forged A licences, at Thames magistrates court on Tuesday.

Henry James Martin, 19 Ritchie House, Lower Road, Rotherhithe, was fined £25 after Det. Chief Insp..Alexander Bryce told the magistrate that he had found two "completely false" A licences in a drawer in the office of Bermondsey Road Services, Rotherhithe Old Road.

The detective stated that he found that the licences bore the number of a E2 vehicle belonging to Bermondsey Road Services, but Martin claimed that he did not write it on the forged licence. Martin, after coming out of prison, had worked as a street trader and a car dealer before joining Bermondsey Road Services, added the detective.

The same day, Michael Dougan, 96 Ellerrnan Street, Poplar, was due to appear to answer a summons alleging that he had used an A licence which he knew to he false. An adjournment was granted until Thursday as Dougan was on a journey to Manchester.
