21,000 IN 10 MONTHS

A LIVESTOCK carrier who was rA granted a second vehicle on B licence by Maj. F. S. Eastwood, Yorkshire Licensing Authority, on Tuesday, was said to have transported 21,000 animals during the first 10 months of 1959.

He was Mr. E. Dodsworth, Harome, for whom Mr. R. E. Paterson stated that objections had been withdrawn when his client agreed to a radius limit of 50 miles.

Described as the only livestock haulier in the district, the applicant carried 4,335 head of cattle, 13,791 sheep, 2,569 pigs, 339 calves and 58 horses from JanuaryOctober last year.

U.C.L. POLICY NOT DETERMINED

N° progress had been made towards determining the future policy of United Carriers, Ltd., The Commercial Motor was told this week. The meeting of Members, called last week to discuss the matter, made no forward steps, but further meetings are scheduled.

It is understood that controversial issues have been raised by members since the decision by B.R.S. (Meat Haulage), Ltd., to withdraw their contract with U.C.L. was announced last month.
