Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

i AM a driver of 21 heavy goods vehicle of 22 years' experience and having read frequently. in The Commercial Motor about lorry drivers who do not want the speed limit for the " heavies " raised to 30 m.p.h., can only say that they are Communists; men who want the country to go down, or drivers who want to wreck their owners' vehicles.

A sixor eight-wheeler cannot possibly be driven properly at 20 m.p.h.; this would not only damage the gearbox but would also soon ruin the engine.

Actually 20 m.p.h. is not an economical speed. Many of us are paid on output or given a bonus, whichever you like to• call it, but to run our lorries at the lower speed would not be doing justice to the vehicles or their owners.

We know that the law says 20 m.p.h., but to travel at that speed would be holding up other traffic which wants also to get on with the job.

I would like to point out that we have 14 drivers on our firm, but we have not one who would say that he did not want to drive at over the present limit. The sooner 30 m.p.h. becomes legal the more drivers who want to get on with their work will be happy.
