NEW LAMPS FOR WINKING INDICATORS

A RANGE of lamps suitable for 1-1, winking-light indicators is in production at the Leicester works of the British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd. The most popular of the winking-light systems is expected to be that employing four twin-filament lamps.

The 12v. lamp for this system contains a bw. and an 18w. filament, and may be used as a front side light combined with an indicator, or a rear light combined with both a stop light and indicator. A rear lamp may be wired so that the winking system has overriding control over the stop-light system.

The new Mazda lamps have symmetrical filaments to reduce the effects of vibration, and a new method of fixing the filaments to the leads for high resistance to heat and shock.

Festoon bulbs incorporating a thermocontrolled make-and-break, which give two flashes per second, are available from dealers at 18s. 6d. a pair. They can be fitted into semaphore-type indicators to give a winking light. The makers are Creators, Ltd., Woking.
