Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

KPMG administrators are winding down fruit & veg wholesaler Hurst Parnell Westland in Newport, with the loss of 20 drivers' jobs.

The company, which employed 48 people, ran 28 reefers between 3.5 and 26 tonnes. They were based at Newport and a satellite depot in Rhyl, North Wales.

KPMG says 20 of the vehicles are company assets, while eight are subject to finance. Administrator Richard Hill explains: "The company had encountered difficulties with quality and supply and, as a result, lost a number of customers. Unfortunately, it is not viable to sell the business as a going concern and we've had to make these redundancies to allow it to be wound down."

The company, which supplied a number of local education authorities, independent supermarkets and retailers, was known as AJ Edwards until it was acquired by Bristolbased Hurst Parnell Group in August 2006. However, following the sale its turnover fell significantly and KPMG was appointed as administrator last month.

All property and assets of the business have been realised to allow the proceeds to be distributed to creditors.
