• At the opening of West Yorkshire PTE's headquarters in Leeds last week, TGWU leader Ron Todd made an urgent plea to the Government for more investment in transport.
Todd said that cities in the North were expanding rapidly and were taking in more companies from the South. "It has to be realised that to cater for this development and the extra traffic generated, there is an urgent need for a large investment of centrally held funds," he said.
