• Newly-launched NFC subsidiary Exel Logistics — Regional Services, plans to open a depot in Basingstoke later this month. It will handle existing work and hopes to win a new contract in the next six weeks.
A total of 10 vehicles and 15 staff, 12 of which are drivers, will be based at Basingstoke.
The firm also plans to establish contracts with European importers during the year. It is currently negotiating with industrial manufacturers in Italy, Germany and France.
Ian Brown, a former regional director with Exel Logistics, has been appointed managing director of the new company, which currently has £25 million worth of business.
