• Ratcliffe & Partners, a member of the Institute of Automotive Engineer Assessors, has told Commercial Motor that in the 16 cases of wheel loss it has investigated, all but one affected the nearside rear wheel. "Common sense dictates that if service or maintenance arrangements were at fault, then the wheel loss would be in random positions," says the company. "Clearly detachment is occurring for reasons other than poor or inadequate maintenance," it says.
