AS if the recent bad weather was not enough to contend with, operators hoping for a smooth journey should also bear in mind the following road works. (Report compiled by CM with the help of the Automobile Association's Roadwatch unit).
• Al(M) Welwyn, Herts. Barrier work on central reservation until further notice will result in lane closures.
• MI Bedfordshire. Between Junctions 13 and 13 (Woburn/Northampton), Carriageway restrictions caused by lane repairs.
• M180 Humberside. Contraflow scheme operating between Junction 3(M180/M181) and Junction 4 (Ermine Street interchange). • M74 Scotland at Lesniahagow. Motorway extension work in
progress, northbound carriageway closed, twoway traffic on southbound carriageway.
• M5 Devon, Various lane closures between Junction 25 and 26 (Taunton /Wellington) owing to reconstruction work.
• M4 South Wales.
Outside lane closed on westbound carriageway between Junctions 22 and 26 (Chepstow/Newport), • M25 Herts., Lane closures in hand until further notice east of Junction 18 (Chorleywood). Delays expected.
• M25 Kent. Lane closures on eastbound carriageway west of A21 (Sevenoaks turn oft) for erection of siens. • Al2 Essex. Roadworks at Margaretting, in conjunction with Chelmsford bypass. Work continues until July.
• North Circular Road, Brent. Between 8prn on Friday February 7 and 6am Monday February 10, and at the same time during subsequent weekends until March 3. A406 at Brent will he subject to closures.
• A47 Shropshire. Several sets of roadworks between Ludlow and Whitchurch. Allow for delays.
• A419 Gloucestershire. Single-line traffic at Cirencester and Swindon. 1 A740 Renfrewshire. Bypass construction at Linclive spur between Junction 28 of M8 and Linwood roundabout. Traffic reduced to one lane in each direction — westbound tailbacks on M8 in peak hours.
