DRIVERS employed by the West Yorkshire Road Car Company have gone on strike over company plans to introduce National Bus minibus services in York.
The company offered the minibus drivers' posts to its existing workforce, but there were no takers. They were then offered in the outside labour market.
A secret ballot of drivers voted six-to-one in favour of industrial action.
'The Transport and General Workers Union says the workforce does not object to the introduction of minibuses, hut the company has failed to negotiate conditions of service for them.
