Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TWO ACQUISITIONS propelled contract leasing specialist Prohi re into the UK's 100 fastest-growing companies, says its chairman.

The Stoke-on-Trent-based firm was one of five road transport businesses in the latest edition of the Sunday Times annual Fast Track 100 league table.

The others were courier specialist Lewis Day Transport (number three); driver agency ADR Resources (50), container firm Bawdsey Haulage (76); and hanging garment transporter Clipper Group Holdings (85).

Prohire crept in at number 99. Chairman David Barlow says this was due to two acquisitions in 2001 and 2003: the contracts division of Danish logistics company DFDS, followed by the vehicle management division of Sec uricor.

'We bought that business [Securicorl a couple of years ago now and it proved to be a very good f it,' Barlow says. "It gave us a springboard to compete and tender for large contracts."

Barlow says the deals helped Prohire win a deal with Reliance Custodial Services involving 300 vehicles which are used to transport prisoners around the UK.

Prohire was set up in 1997 and has doubled its sales each year since. Turnover is expected to hit 212.3m this year.
