• Six Freight Transport Association members fighting the compulsory fitting of air brake silencers to trucks which come under the ambit of the London lorry ban have had their appeals turned down by the London Boroughs Transport Committee.
The committee rejected FTA evidence that operators and manufacturers are concerned about the safety implications of air-brake silencers.
Now the association is calling an urgent meeting to discuss further appeals, and it maintains its stance that the LBTC is acting unlawfully and unreasonably in its insistence on air brake silencers.
