SOUTHDOWN MOTOR Services is being reorganised into four separately accountable divisions to trasfer much of the decision-making and responsibility to its operating locations.
Four separately accountable bus divisions Hampshire, West Sussex, Brighton and Hove and East Sussex — each headed by a manager and a coach division headed by the company traffic manager are being created.
Managers and fleet engineers for each division will be responsible to the company general manager.
The proposals fall short of splitting the National Bus subsidiary into smaller separate companies as the pattern of passenger journeys in key corridors justifies the need for an overall "umbrella" organisation.
