MANY hailiers, especially oneman operators, still do not know how to word the newspaper advertisements of their application for an operator's licence, a spokesman from the Western Mail and South Wales Echo classified department, told CM.
Advertisements were first required to comply with the new environmental control regulations on June 1. "But many operators don't know the first thing, especially if more than one vehicle is involved, or if there is more than one premises," she said.
The Western Mail and Western Wales Echo charge normal rates for the space allocated — £31.60 and £48.80 respectively. The Freight Transport Association quotes £37 as average. The newspapers offer help in wording the adverts too.
