If the self-appointed guardians of individual liberty again defeat the Bill to make the wearing of seat belts compulsory, how would it be if accident casualties who could be proved not to have been wearing them were compelled to pay for all medical treatment as private patients?
It is customary to pay for the privilege of jumping hospital queues and I see no reason why those who injure themselves through their own stubborness should divert slim medical resources from more deserving cases at the public expense.
