SINCE Relais Routiers and the journal Les Routiers were started, several other organisations have been founded; in France in particular these have political influence and other organisations in other countries are now affiliated through the Union Internationale des Chauffeurs Routiers (UICR), with a total membership in the region of one million drivers.
The British set-up can't be compared with the French, but the Continental Freight Drivers' Club, 354 Fulham Road, London SVV10, is the official UK representative on the UICR, and with 2,500 members is poised to make more rapid progress next year.
For drivers to France and the rest of the Continent the CFDC offers many benefits: help in the case of trouble:; insurance; legal advice; recovery service; and medical cover.
