METROPOLITAN Police traffic officers unveiled their plans for experimental anti-speeding equipment in London last week.
Muni Quip T3 and Kustom HR8 hand-held radar guns — similar to units in operation with other United Kingdom police forces — and two roadside units (worked by more than one policeman) are being tried throughout London.
They are being used on all types of road in London and are designed to record speeds of up to 199 mph. The police say that traffic accidents caused 718 deaths in London last year compared with only 142 by criminal action.
