THE VOLUME of road traffic on Britain's roads is continuing to grow by around 3.5 per cent, but commercial vehicle components of this have fluctuated.
In 1977, goods vehicle traffic increased by 1.5 per cent over the previous year, but has shown virtually no change in the first quarter of this year.
Bus and coach traffic, on the other hand, declined by one per cent in 1977, and more steeply, by two per cent in the first quarter of this year.
Taxi and car traffic rose by 3.5 per cent in the first period, and by 4.5 per cent during the first quarter of 1978.
