Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MRS. BARBARA CASTLE is, as we all know, out to put an end to the private haulier. She continues to pour more and more money into the railways and this is something which everybody is going to regret as the realities of our economic difficulties become apparent.

The railway deficit grows, unchecked, year after year, and will continue to do so, if the system is not further pruned.

Throughout the world the role played by the railways is on a decreasing scale, and rather than prolong BR's life by restricting road haulage she should make the two more competitive and hand some jobs previously carried out by the railways to the trucking lines.

It is absolute nonsense for Mrs. Castle to think that State ownership of transport will bring about any benefits to the country ... far from it.

I believe that the transport industry is taken too much for granted. What would happen if the hauliers were to hold a one-day protest stoppage?
