Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A NEW 36ft single-deck bus chassis has been announced by Daimler Transport Vehicles Ltd., Coventry. It supplements the existing range of Daimler chassis, and is basically an extended version of the Mk 4A Fleetline (COMMERCIAL MOTOR, last week). The designation is SRG6-36 Fleetline.

The new chassis has a wheelbase of 18ft 6th., front overhang of 7ft 7in. (although the bodywork can increase this overhang by 2 to 3M.), and rear overhang of 9ft 9th. The chassis design permits the fitting of a front entrance with a step height of lft 3in. from the ground (unladen) and permits the fitting of the lowest possible exit height where a central exit is specified.

All the characteristics of the current Fleetline models are retained in the new chassis, with the added advantage of extra passenger space. It is equally suited to take front-entrance coachwork containing 49 to 52 seats, or a pay-as-you-enter layout with central exit and 47/8 seats with space for up to 20 standing passengers.

Standard power unit is the 10.45-litre Gardner 6LX diesel engine, although the Gardner 6LXB and 6LW engines are offered as alternatives.

An important advantage of the new chassis is the possibility of complete standardization of mechanical components between doubleand single-decker buses for operators who already run
