mercial vehicles in September made a slight recovery from August's total of 20,101—the year's lowest—to 21,143. The improved figure is well below the monthly average of 26,290 for the previous eight months.

However the rise and fall of registrations follow a similar pattern each year —August and September, 1960 also showed the lowest figures of the year. The main differenceis that registrations for January-September, 1961. are 23.2,268, or. 8.438 above the same period last year.

The registrations of petrol-engined vehicles show an increase of 1,646 from the previous month while those of diesel vehicles fell by 1,421 and electric types remained steady at around 200.
