Tyne. Corporation in a report to the City Council has said that the main roads connecting Newcastle with Glasgow, Manchester., and M1 would have to be improved if Newcastle was to become the 'major trading link between Britain and Scandinavia. The future of the River Tyne as a trading port was a matter of regional importance, and Newcastle, as the capital city in the region, was affected by developments along the whole of the river. The report will be submitted to the Rochdale Committee.
