'for the acquisition of Scout Motor
Ltd,, Preston,. operators of 49 mes and coaches, by Ribble Motor .t.rVices, Ltd.
Scout Motor Services will become a ibsidiary of Ribble Motor Services, and Er. H. Bottomley, general manager of ibble, stated: "The regular services, Lcursions and private-hire facilities :ovided by Scout will continue to funcon as before and will be maintained at le same high standard as in the past." For many years, Scout have operated lintly with Ribble stage-carriage services A-ween Preston and Blackpool, and on ibble's behalf services between Burnleyreston-Lytham, and between Preston
Burnley and Preston Rochdale.
Scout also operate jointly with Ribble numerous works services and jointly with Ribble's subsidiary, W. C. Standerwick, Ltd., on the 13Iackpool and East Lancashire to London services, and also jointly with Ribble and Standerwick on the Keswick and Lake District to London services. Day, and part-day excursions are operated jointly by Ribble and Scout from Preston and Kirkham.
Several years ago, Scout acquired the excursions business of Whitaker Bros., Adelaide Street, Blackpool, and this part of the undertaking will still further consolidate the excursions and tours business operated in Blackpool by W. C. Standerwick, Ltd.
Scout Motor Services, founded after the first world war by the late Mr. James Watkinson and his wife, has continued since as a family concern. The business was formed into a private limited company in 1932.
"The acquisition of the 43-year-old Scout business by Ribble will bring about a marriage of old friends in the bus and coach world," Mr. Bottomley stated. "We fought many battles in the early stages of development, but for more than 20 years we have worked in close harmony, providing joint operations and services which . have been of benefit to the community."
Scout Motor Services, Ltd., has 130 employees and Mr. Bottomley emphasized that they will continue in its employment.
