Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

If the French now accept that they have been breaking the law by harassing British operators who have been carrying belly tanks (CM 1.7 August), what about sonic compensation? French police are quick enough to take our money at the slightest excuse, excuses which are often fraudulent. Now that they admit they were, in this case, utterly wrong, what has happened to their sense of fair play ?

The answer is that they don't have a sense of fair play. They only have a sense of securing commercial advantage whenever and wherever they can. You can't help wondering if there is an orchestrated campaign against British hauliers in France. I certainly would like to know why our Department of Transport is so spineless in defending British operators against this sort of treatment. Do they care more about keeping the Europeans happy than our own hauliers?
