• The Forestry Commission has bought five new Perkinspowered Fodens, including a pair of 4000 Series heavy haulage tractors. The 6x4 tractors will be based at Inverness and Dumfries to transport treeharvesting and construction equipment operated by Forest Enterprise.
The 4000 Series are powered by Perkins 400Tx diesels with Eaton gearboxes and Eaton DS401P tandem bogies mounted on Airtrac suspension. They will usually operate with Andover Trailers low-loaders.
The other Fodens are 3000 Series 8x4s with Perkins 335Tx power and rubber rear suspension. Two are tippers; the other, operating out of Aberfoyle, has a Multilift hooklift system with tipper and flatbed bodies supplied by Hugh Logan Engineering of Glasgow.
