• Eezee Euro Services has finally wound up the clearinghouse operation it took over following the collapse of Transworld in May (CM 23-29 May). It now intends to run its own fleet.
The company took over all nine Transworld depots, but by last week only Sissett in Middlesbrough remained open. Eezee Euro director Roy Vernon has resigned.
His fellow director, David Allbright, says the company will concentrate on its core business of contract packaging, warehousing and international transport with seven vehicles.
There are no plans to change the name of the company, which will be based in Widnes.
El Sorskys, the Transworld receiver, says it is unable to make an interim payment to hauliers left owed money when the firm went under because of difficulties in collecting money from Transworld's debtors.
"They are trying everything in their power not to pay," says a Sorskys spokesman. "We are having to
visit ex
Transworld depots up and down the country to collect proof-of-delivery documents — it's a complete mess." Sorskys says it is taking steps to bring the money in faster.
