The NV200 is Nissan's major asset with which it will establish itself in the LCV market. This is a brand new van, purpose-designed and built by Nissan at its Barcelona factory'. The initial signs are positive and this vehicle should be an attractive proposition for the fleet buyer.

There are two specification options, E and SE. The "E" is a functional machine, offering a back

to-basics approach suited to these austere times, while the SE is aimed at those requiring a little more refinement and features electric windows, mirrors and load floor covering. All models feature central locking with remote control.

One of the driving factors of this project was to ensure customers get a good deal from the NV200, says Nissan. and on this first look that

should be the case — oil change intervals arc at i2.500 miles and a three-year 100.000 mile warranty is the order of the day.

Behind the wheel the NV200 is a very well-mannered vehicle. The driving position is comfortable and offers a good all-round view of the road ahead. The 1.5-litre diesel engine is a well-proven power unit in service across Nissan and Renault products, as such durability is the name of the game. Performance is good with the engine displaying a good combination of low-rev torque and nippy acceleration. The steering wheel is compact and makes for good manoeuvrability. aided by the vehicle's tight turning circle and compact dimensions. Braking. via front discs and rear drums, ensures the vehicle comes to a rapid halt.
