'Wash and brush up

THE NBC has had a Britannia Strong mobile gantry vehicle-washer installed at its Carcroft transport depot near Doncaster, to clean vehicles ranging from 1,117kg (22cwt) Transits to 30.5 tonnes (30ton) capacity trucks working out of 10 colleries in the area.

The mobile gantry washer, made by Smith and Webb Ltd of Alcester, has three brushes that follow the contours of the vehicle and an ancillary spray arch with oscillating high power jets that help to removethe more stubborn deposits.

A number of variations can be programmed into the washer to suit the condition of the individual vehicle but a typical cleaning cycle takes less than 10 minutes.

Asphalt tipper.

THE main feature of this re-inforced lightweight tipper body, built by E. M. Wilcox Ltd of Peterborough for export to Denmark, is the 0.5 metre extension to the deck for discharging hot • asphalt into road laying machines.

The all-welded aluminium alloy body, with a capacity of 19cum (28cuyd), is built on a fully-welded integral subframe fitted to a semi-trailer chassis from AHP Trailers Ltd of Wolverhampton.

Beam strength

A NEW manufacturing company, Transquip International Trailers Ltd is about to launch a 42.6 tonne (42ton) gross low loader semi-trailer with a detachable gooseneck.

The chassis incorporates four longtitudinal 'I' section beams with a centre spread of lm which is wider than normal for this type of trailer but is claimed to provide the strength where it is needed.

A 'V' guide is included in the floor section, in front of the load area, to allow the gooseneck to be located more easily.
