ROADLINE UK Ltd presented safe driving awards last week to those of its drivers who had been driving for the company for more than 15 years.
Among the 28 drivers attending the ceremony (a total of 53 drivers were given ‘‘,,irds) '.'.as Arthur Adams (retired) who had been driving for 56 years.
He received a 39 Year Gold Bar award.Next to him W as John By ott (retired), awarded a 34 Year Silver Bar, anti Thomas Wilkinson and William Amey who were both lvvarded a 30 Year Bronze Medal (Red Centre).
Laingfreight has appointed John Hutchinson as its new rminaging director. He moves from \Vimpey Laing Iran Ltd to take over his new post.
Ron Sharpe, 30. is the new manager of the Pickfords Removals Portsmouth branch. Mr Sharpe moves from the company's Deptford branch to take over at Portsmouth.
R. K. Crisp (Haulage) Ltd has appointed Chris Waidloe to be its new general truinitger. Mr ',A-Jardine, '34, moves to the Richards and Wallington group subsidiary from British Road Services (Mortons) where he w a, the Thurrock depot ran sport manager.
In his new job Mi Ward Inc viIl be responsible for the co-ordination of the activities at depots in Birmingham. Southampton, and Le Harvre. He is also a former British Lion rugby plavert who currently plays for 'Coventry.
Ian Clowes is the new Midlands area commercial manager for the McGregor Cory Europe company. Based at the company's Birmingham depot.
MCE has also appointed Robert Thomas as its area sales representative for London and the South East.
On the passenger front, Samir Rihani is the new director of service planning and co-ordination for the :Merseyside PTE. He is a former transport engineer with Baghdad Corporation and was technical director of Merseyside's joint transport unit.
Maidstone and District Motor Services has appointed Roger Davies as its north west area manager in succession to John Adamson.
Mr Davies was assistant area supermtendant for the Ribble northern region.
We regret to announce the death of Ernest Sanderson, former chairman of S and N Motors of Bishopbriggs, Scotland. Mr Sanderson died in Glasgow Western Infirmary after a long illness.
