THE Road Haulage Wages Council was due to meet yesterday (Thursday) to consider representations which, as reported last week, have been made against the proposed increases in haulage pay and overtime rates.
It is understood that one of the views to be taken into account is that expressed by a junior minister at the Economic Affairs Ministry, who commented that the equivalent of a 7 per cent increase, in the absence of improved productivity, contravened the Government's policy on prices and incomes.
TRTA Objections to Bans: The TRTA is to object to proposals to make permanent the loading bans in Dundee which have operated on a temporary basis for some 18 months. The objections are directed mainly to the duration of the bans. Objections will also be made to proposed bans in the main shopping area of Rothesay, Isle of Bute,
