E. J. Keam-George, the Booking Agents Association of Great Britain held a social in London, last week, which was converted into a trade meeting of first-class importance. P.S.V. Operators, Ltd., and London Coastal Coaches, Ltd., were represented, as well as the following operating companies :—United Automobile Services, Ltd., Scottish Motor Traction Co.. Ltd., Orange Luxury Coaches, Red and White Services, Ltd., Blue Belle Coaches, Homeland Tours, Eclipse Cohclies, Empire's Best, United Service Transport.

The business agenda was entirely taken up with the recent decision of the Minister of Transport to uphold the railways in their appeal against the granting of permission to United Automobile Services, Ltd., on certain peak days to use its duplicates as and when required by the traffic. That is to say, allowing the company to dispense with the Order restricting duplicates to a maximum of two-thirds in one direction.

Mr. Webb, London manager of U.A.S., Ltd., was the principal speaker and he outlined the history of the detision as it affected his company. In his opinion it was now up to the booking agents to supply the necessary evidence that the railways could not handle the holiday traffic, and he urged them, in their own interests, to take down the names and addresses of all their customers who suffered hardship.

A resolution was passed deploring the decision, a copy being wired to the Minister of Transport.
