Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Lee Kimber • The continuing recession in the South-East claimed more drivers' jobs last week: Rye-based haulier John Jempson is laying off 25 drivers, only days after Headcorn, Kent-based A&H Woodcock went into receivership.

The move will halve Jempson's workforce of 55 drivers and regular owner-drivers, but the compa ny might open an office near Nottingham.

"As far as this company is concerned we're seeking extra business in the Midlands," says Jempson. "We're fairly sure we're going to get extra business up there; we'll be seeking owner-drivers."

0 Receiver Coopers & Lybrand is talking to a potential buyer for A&H Woodcock which went into receivership after 65 years in the industry.

Coopers and Lybrand's Roger White says the L1.3m-turnover company had made losses for several years and was held back because its 1.9-acre site was a long way from major transport routes.

"There has been some interest but it's fair to say it's probably limited interest," he says.
