Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

HAVING been a reader of your book for some 20 years, I must write to you and say that I think you are getting out of touch with your readers. First of al!, please go back to your old type of print and paper.

Next, I think you should ask your readers what is going wrong with your book. I think it is time you pointed out to your readers the ups and downs of axle loading and kingpin loading as you have three types of three-axle tractive unit for 38-tonne operation rated at 20, 22 and 24 tonnes, but most types of tandem trailer have kingpin loading of 9.5 and 11.69 tonnes.

I also think it is time you got behind the drivers of this country and stop the police from stopping lorries on

motorways to look at their tachograph cards. The hard shoulder on motorways should be used only in an emergency, and not by the police to stop lorries and cause a danger to other vehicles.

H. C. Allport Dudley West Midlands Point one: Publishing is like any other business: we must continually adapt to chaving circumstances. CM has changed considerably over the past few months, and will continue to change as we try to give the reader a better, more attractive and more useful magazine. While we can never hope to please every reader every time, we hope you like most of our changes. We always welcome — and take note of — your comments, suggestions and criticisms. Point two: Semi-trailers to which you refer were designed for .32-ton operation and most, due to swing clearance or length restrictions, would not be suited to 38-tonne operation. Crane Fruehauf advises us that its tandem trailers have two kingpin positions of 900mm and 1,350mm rated at 1,200 and 1,500k respectively — Editor.
